Away ticket ballot
Is it fixed? Put in for 5 away tickets this season and secured and grand total of zero.

Luckily folk I know have spares, so I've been okay, but either I'm incredibly unlucky or the ballot isn't as random as I've been lead to believe.

I'm suspicious of this also, never got any in any ballots I've entered.

Its easy for the club to dip into this small pot and sort people out they want to.

I'll get an away ST when available and just sell ones I don't wanna go to like everyone else does

Same Bernie. I've tried before for one of those as well, and it's a closed shop

Re: Away ticket ballot
I literally don't know a single person who's ever got a ticket in a ballot.

I have seen people on social media say they were successful.

Not a closed shop at all. Several games this season have gone to low points - just not the high-profile games that people think they should be able to dip in and get (not suggesting that's you). Vinny on Twitter follows this quite closely.

Re: Away ticket ballot
Unless you are a bond holder or season ticket holder it is now virtually impossible to get an away ticket.
Even if we play on a rainy Tuesday at Newcastle.

As a membership holder I can get to any home game, there are always tickets right up to the last minute.

My last away games were at Villa Park on Boxing Day 15 followed by Newcastle a couple of weeks later. Both occasions the away ends were packed, at Newcastle they even gave us an unusually large allocation of 4,500.

Since then and our subsequent move to the LS at the end of that season I haven't got close to getting an away ticket. We now have 52,000 season ticket holders who, quite rightly, have first dibs on any left overs.

Maybe when I retire I'll apply for a season ticket and perhaps get lucky with away tickets - Away games are the very best of being a West Ham fan

Re: Away ticket ballot
As a STH, I can get tickets for most matches with the points I've got. The funny thing is some matches go for high points like Burnley where I couldn't get a ticket for the go only time this season, and others go much lower even though they're more attractive games.

Re: Away ticket ballot
The whole system regarding the purchase of away match tickets needs to be revised , the away season ticket has made it even more difficult to obtain points for tickets , every week I see people that are not even season ticket holders posting on social media photos of themselves at away games . It’s easy to move on a £30 ticket to friends. Take out the 700 ish away season ticket holders and bond holders there’s not many left out of the average 3000 away tickets. I think the away tickets should be based on the number of years you have been a season ticket holder .

Re: Away ticket ballot
I've got 13 points on my ST, I've entered the ballot for Burnley, Arsenal, Villa, Wolves and Leeds and got none. Again, luckily for me others have had spares and I've been able to go, but I don't want to rely on others, it's not their duty to sort me out.

I've no issue with those that do the hard miles, and I have no issue with the away ST, but either do away with the ballot or make the process more transparent. You don't even get an email if you're unsuccessful.

My pal got two for Arsenal and has had others before as well, think he’s done ok in the ballot.

Of course you do - because that suits you!

Very few people vote for the system that doesn't suit them, but the one you'll find that most Clubs (and England) use is points for games because on balance it's just about fairest. Sadly, lots of deserving people will miss out either way.

It's an emotive subject and people often only see it from their point-of-view. Lard is pleasingly realistic - we've got 52k STHs now - if they go to all of the home Cup games over a couple of seasons they've already got a few points. It's tough, but we've got a lot of supporters.

Away STHs reselling is of course an issue, although I'm not convinced it's a huge one. Tough to say.

The fun and games will come if we ever get to a Cup Final..... (or even a Semi)

Re: Away ticket ballot
On the ball , there’s wasn’t many that wanted to go to the likes of Sheffield Utd on a Monday night in the 90s or pay over £60 for Man Utd Chelsea or Arsenal. The system should have rewarded existing season ticket holders when we left the Boleyn, after all the only time we sold out of season tickets was the last season at the old ground.

Re: Away ticket ballot
Sure, but you'll just get people questioning what having an ST at has to do with away games five years later. And you just create another system that lots of people think is a 'closed shop'.

And while you're right about the 90s - things have changed a little since then! There's a new generation of fans who should be allowed to go to away games too.

As I said, there isn't a 100% fair system. Deserving people lose out either way. Personally I'm comfortable with this from years of England games - it seems the natural way to do it to me, but no system will ever fit everyone.

Re: Away ticket ballot
I don't like using the "S" word, but Spurs have done away with their Priority Points Scheme and Away Season Ticket to allow for a more inclusive ballot.

It is now an almost open ballot scheme for away tickets.

And I believe once you have got a ticket you are withdrawn from a certain number of future ballots too.

Is this the annual moan up thread about away tickets?

Oh it’s not fair I can’t get a ticket for Tottenham away, I went home and away in the 70s, I should be able to get one cause I was there in the good old days!

Re: Away ticket ballot
As someone who lives up north I never used to have any problems getting tickets for away games - okay, big cup games or 'glamour' fixtures against the big sides could be a struggle, but league games against most clubs there was no problem getting tickets.

Since we've moved to the Olympic Stadium it's been next to impossible to get anything - even matches against the likes of Burnley and Huddersfield get nowhere near general sale.

I never expected this to be a knock on effect of us moving to the new ground.

That must have gone down well with their away regulars. If West Ham do that to us that will be the end of me going West Ham.

Still the Spurs March on. Their travel club Ford Galaxy has sold out for their trip to Slovenia today……

Re: Away ticket ballot
I think the system is the fairest it can be right now. Possibly there should be some rule around people selling on tickets who have away season tickets. But then I'm a hypocrite as I buy them off away STHs regularly.

It's often the basics that let West Ham down though... fan groups have been requesting ever since the ballot was introduced for an automated email to be sent out to everyone unsuccessful in the ballot. They keep saying they're looking into how they can do this using the system they have in place. It's pathetic. A lot of the things that wind people up are so easy to fix but they lack the will/know how.

Re: Away ticket ballot
It's as fair as it can be right now, the mistake they made was increasing the amount of AST holders which should have been capped at 400-500.

They shouldn't be doing a ballot for Burnley and Watford though given the low allocation, I'm sure they said they wouldn't do it or would at least make it a lower percentage for those sort of games.
